Requirements For a Driving Position

If you are applying for a driving position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • must be at least 25 years old or older

  • have at least two consecutive years of verifiable, over the road, tractor-trailer experience

  • cannot have any of the following major convictions in the last five years:

    • alcohol/drug related offense (includes DUI, open container, possession, or refusal of BAC test)

    • vehicular homicide or assault

    • any felony involving the use of a motor vehicle

  • cannot have any of the following major convictions in the past three years:

    • leaving the scene of an accident (hit-and-run)

    • careless/reckless/negligent driving, exhibition of speed contest, or racing

    • speed of 15 mph or more over the posted speed limit or exceeding 85 mph

    • attempting to elude a police officer

    • driving while revoked or suspended

    • texting or use of a cell phone while driving

    • violating an out-of-service order

  • cannot have more than three moving violations and/or preventable accidents in the past three years (moving violations defined as all other non-felony "minor" violations not on the list above, includes seat belt violations)

  • cannot have more than two moving violations and/or preventable accidents in the past 12 months

  • cannot have a valid in-force driver license or a drivers' license lacking the proper endorsement for the vehicle being driven

  • cannot have any misrepresentation or providing false information for a police report

  • cannot have any restricted driving privileges (such as limited to driving to/from work) requires further UW review
